    @Alasdair:

    You know, what happened to Caesar? ;) So, I don’t think that this comparison should be made :)

    And I am not quite sure, whether Caesar and AC did have the same issues with their hair :)

    RE: Video podcasts

    I’m downloading podcasts to my mobile device. So I’m not crazy about mixing the videos in the same feed as the audio because of the size (and honestly, I havent gotten enough value from the DSC videos yet.) . I know its hard to re-build an audience to find the video feeds separately, but I dont like having the video feed automatically download when all I want is the audio

    Also, regarding video format: Rocketboom has different subscriptions on their page. You can subscribe separately for mobile video that playes awesome on my device or you can subscribe to the PC/iPod friendly versions. They aim to please!

    thinking of podcasting future: do you think there will be a time where the podcasters should be concerned about the various formats and ways of distribution. To have one home that provides listeners with various formats for the feeds so they can personalize their experience?

    1. Full Feed (audio, video, pdf, etc)
    2. Audio only Feed
    a. mp3
    b. eAAC+ (small files, excellent quality…smaller files easier for mobile podcasting delivery & storage)
    c. aac enhanced (chapters, embedded URLS, changing graphics)
    c. Video only Feed

    How much effort should podcasters made in order to get the farthest reach and best user experiences?

    Just some thoughts

    Steven

    Steven,

    I think this should’t be the concern of the podcaster, but of the podcatcher, you should be able to set your preferences. I think I agree with Paul Pinfield. Send anyuthing you like, I want to filter it myself or have it done by the software i use. Just like the choice of feed, I would choose the formats I accept.

    Just my 2 cents on the subject.

    @Christian

    Yikes! You’re right. When I commented I was thinking more Monty Python type empire than the Ides of March.
