I forgot to mention that, regarding the video podcasts, I’ve not had any problem viewing them using Linux (Fedora Core 4) or FreeBSD with Mplayer.

The past few days’ shows, which I’ve deleted once I’ve finished listening, are showing up to be downloaded again. Is something causing these posts to be updated so that Juice is thinking it should download them again?

real MPEG-4 is good idea – one could burn them to DVD or CD and then play IN REGULAR DVD PLAYER!!!! so really it is much much better if you could deliver your video in MPEG-4! Seriously, AdamC, matey! Also TCMP video player – available for several mobile phone and PDA players – plays MPEG-4!

CSB: Just some facts regarding the Dutch decision to defer until 2011 inhabinants of newly EU countries to live/work in Holland.
Read these facts and you will understand why on May 1st 2006 the Dutch government will vote against admission before 2011.
1. Holland has the highest population density (together with South Korea) of any developed country: 1000/square mile or 400/square km. (Poland has only 122/square mile and the US only 64/square mile. My point being Holland is very crowded as it is.
2. Holland has already 3 million non-dutch, representing 20% of the Dutch population.
My point being Holland has always been very welcoming to foreigners
3. Of the 2 million non-working Dutch inhabitants 1mln are non-dutch. My point being the non-dutch are 20% of the population but 50% of the unemployed and disabled. It is hard for new immigrants to find meaningful employment.
4. Holland has a 6% unemployment and this number will increase by 300 000-500 000 because the State Secretary/minister (Verdonk) will force disabled people to search for gaininful employment. My point being; 2006-2007 is a bad year to add more non-dutch EU citizens to look for work while these 300 000 people have just lost their benefits in 2005/2006.
5. Holland spends the highest percentage of GPD (1%) on development aid of any developed
country. The US only spends 0.1% of GDP on development aid of other countries. And
Holland does not require reciprocal business in return, unlike some other countries….
In summary: The Dutch meet there social obligations and don’t discriminate but are also practical and pragmatic. I agree with your case that Holland should admit the new EU citizens into Holland to work and live. And give them the same right as citizens from for example Germany/France. Because, as Adam Smith and Michael Porter have pointed out, in the end all the countries will be better of with free trade and specialization.
But the timing in 2006-2008 is just not right to do this.

Long time ago I was often visiting Amsterdam over weekends – I was visting whores, I was cycling with water bike through channels of Amsterdam, I was amazed and liked Netherlands for multi-cultiralism and openess. I was amazed to see Dutch starting to speak to me in German once they noticed that there were German marks in my wallet (before Euro) and I really though well of Netherlands. Then came big dissapointment of May 1st 2004 when only UK, Sweden and Ireland proved to be real friends. Now comes 2 year revision period where Spain, Portugal, Finland and probably also Greece decided to become friends. Particularly Spain – one of the biggest 6 EU countries – realized that it would be utterly stupid to piss off countries that has so much in common with themselves (also Catholic in majority) and in long term could be very helpful and useful – in business, in European politics, in human-human relations.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND, dale marco: you are making huge mistake by thinking of myself and other new EU citzens as of “foreigners”. NO. This is common house of ours for long long future – EU = EUROPEAN UNION. And your negative decision will simply show that you will be FUCKED UP FOR EVER. Please remember that Germany is fucked up because it had to pay 1.5 trillion (1000 billions) to reconstruction of East Germany after re-unification and they have thus a lot of problems resulting from this re-unification and shit – so they have some justification not to open themselves before 2011. However Netherlands has no such excuse at all and your above excuses are simply totally not acceptable – you are talking about fellow EU citizens and not about some non-EU foreigners for God’s sake! No only Adam curry , but another 600 000 people living in Holland emigrated to another country, because they did no agree or were negatively impact by bad Dutch government decisions (mostly from the 1970-1990). But they could have stayed. The Dutch government is trying to correct these bad decision from the past . But it is a 2 step forward and 1 step backwards approach.

In 1981 there was revolution in poland and people in form of 10-million strong “Solidarity” organization were ready to fight Soviet army, that was gathering at east borders of poland — so State of War was called internally to avoid soviet tanks rolling over people … and in 1989 the first non-communist government in east europe was created in poland as result of 1981 struggle. People were not sitting on their asses and saying that they can’t do anything because “country is run by career politicians”… and believe me: in 1981 also parts of polish army would switch sides – and polish had 1000 year history of insurgence fights – and not only soviet tanks but practically nuclear weapons would have to be used by soviets to stop this movement. FUCKING NUCLEAR WEAPONS!
on the other hand – as Adam Curry pointed it out in podcasts – Dutch people don’t stand up and wait for others to take decisions on their behalf. Dutch are also cutting off anybody who stands out – so said AdamC. So Dutch people and not Dutch politicians are at the end to blame. Two things I’ve noticed recently. What the heck happened to the filenames? They used to be short, readable, and sorted nicely into date order (year, month, date). Now they are no longer viewable on my player because they are so goddamned long, though the silly added number seems to be sorting them in the correct order. Not all of us have Ipods, and some players (like mine) actually show music by filename, not id3 tag. Please go back to the old style filenames, please!
On the not-ipod track, my player actually does videos (iaudio x5), but they need to be in xvid at the correct resolution. I could set juice up to call the program to convert automatically, except that Curry uses a proprietary apple format that nothing in the world can read! at least use .MOV for god’s sake!
Enough ranting, but please try to fix these issues, please?
The video format is H.264/MPEG-4 AVC I think and thats a standard.

But I want them to play on my iaudio x5, which means that I need to to convert them to 160×128x15fps xvid avi. The converters I have been using for other files, iriverter and jetaudio (the latter came with the device) can’t read mp4 or m4v. I believe that ireverter is a wrapper for mencoder, if there are plugins that might help.

This week I heard the first new track from Sleep is the Enemy on Accident Hash and also on the Daily Source Code. First Date is hot. It’s got a great hook and just rocks. I already bought this and the other 2 non-album tracks that emusic has up. One these b-sides is a pumped-up cover of the Elvis Costello song Pump It Up.
