Very interesting to read the press release quotations from Paul Keller, Public Project Lead for Creative Commons in the Netherlands and Lawrence Lessig, Creative Commons CEO & Chairman.
Neither of them, or anyone from the CC organization ever contacted me of their own accord, offered support or thanked me for bringing this suit. The thanks I have received from independent artists and producers of intellectual property on the other hand, has been very rewarding.
I don’t understand this. All kinds of sites are writing about it, including CC and you still want more out of it? I am under the impression that you are using this for promotion more than anything else, right now.
Also, you have told in an older show yourself that you had no interest to call like the EFF and Creative Commons because of your old EFF ‘issue’ when you were still working at MTV.
And wasn’t it Lawrence Lessig himself who offered help? Cory Doctorow also responded to that EFF ‘issue’.
The came to you, even when you said in public you don’t think they would be of any help. Now you want even more?
Oh stop the BS Adam, you can mark your pictures with “no commercial use allowed” and you will get the same court decision – no big deal here.
Creative Commons is BS anyway – no one needs it. It was created for the sole reason to justify the public jobs of the creators.
MP: You should listen to those shows again. I mentioned several times that I wondered why I had not heard from CC or EFF. Corey doesn’t work for EFF or speak on their behalf.
Lessig told me he was ‘watching’ with interest, but not a peep from him since either.
The only reason for this post is the irony of the CC press release and quotes from messrs. Lessig and Keller.

If somebody did a press release concerning a case *I* had undertaken entirely using my own resources, I’d expect them to at least get in touch, congratulate me, maybe even show me the press release before it went out. It just seems a little more considerate that way. IMHO.
Actually the more court precedent we have (in all countries) then the more credibility CC will have. As the case law history builds…and hopefully in our favor…CC will become a cornerstone we can depend upon.
AC is correct – if this had been in the US the EFF would be all over it like a rash. The fact that it is in a lower court in a “smaller” country means that “watching with intrest” was all they did. I agree it’s dissappointing. Just watch the first case in the US will be quoting this prcedent left, right and centre. AC was not doing this for self promotion – did he take out full banner ads? Did he issue press releses? Did Podshow? If promotion was what he was after then that’s what he would have done. But no, all he did was talk about it on his own Podcast. And guess what the DSC is all about? Essentially Adam’s life- oh and cowbell.

But there are two things I want to point out:
+ It’s great that CC exists and people can make use of it. It’s great that Lessig & Co (dunno them) have taken the responsibility to give something incredibly useful to the community. Yes, they are doers, too! Soooo, have you explicitly thanked them for helping them in your lawsuit? If so, you indeed have good manners, Mr Curry!
+ Yes, they have not explicitly thanked you. It would be nice if they would have done it. But then again, remember all your listeners who provide feedback, ideas, etc. to you. You know (and I know) that you cannot play or credit them all. You may also hurt people unintentionally by not mentioning their valuable help for your good cause.
My suggestion to you, AC: Wait a while for a personal note. In the meantime, be happy about being the “podcasting guru” and having curry.podshow,com linked from the press release – THAT is true advertising!
