The team really over delivered yesterday, finishing the move to the DataBarn in just over 3 hours, almost half the projected time.
Now a period of stabilization will be followed by the upgrades we’ve been working on for months.
Amidst all of this, while on break in the sun, I’ve been evaluating The Charlie and have some ideas to work on before recapturing the feed from MYN.
My ‘headphone earlobe’ has culminated into a visit from the local (polish born, 27 year old and very cute) doctor, who refused to cut me and instead put me on some heavy ass antibiotics. I don’t think it’s going to help as the lobe is now the size of a marble. Flickr pictures will not be published
Either way, this thing has to be dealt with before next week’s travel to the US. On the other hand, I think the discomfort and aching of the lobe is producing van Gogh like thinking. I can’t wait to get back to the Savants of the DSC, as there is much to discuss.
Although I certainly have not unplugged completely this week, the quality of programming available here via traditional media is so negative, bland and superficial that it has re-kindkled the fire in my belly to keep pushing at the tipping point. Can’t wait.
I know some places in Santa Cruz de Tenerife where they will cut you open, free of charge, no problem!
Anyhow, I hope your ear gets better soon, sounds really nasty and could easily spread, if not taken care of.
Looking forward to next week already….
Adam,
I hope you are having a wonderful time. Your fill in was doing an admirable job on the DSC, until he crossed the line with CSB. Please don’t continue the “Howard Stern” personal abuse of your savant’s, I don’t find that entertaining.
Thanks,
Craig
Gee I disagree. I came away really liking CSB, it was clear to me that he understood exactly what Mark was doing, and was sincerely amused by it, and he stayed in his CSB character all the time. Mark definitely pushed the edge, but CSB was all the man he needed to be. I think it worked. I wrote to Mark “It made me uncomfortable at times, but I couldn’t stop listening. AND I like CSB more than ever.”
P-Dub, Wow, you have great podcasts! I respect the work you have done, and I have listened to ALL of your podcasts. Excellent!
I do see your point, and agree that CSB was aware of the “act”. But even so, the abusive nature turned me off, (in fact I did turn it off, first time for me, and I have listened to the DSC since Nov 2004) Mark is very talented, I truly enjoyed his first DSC, with the parodies and itemizing the “Adam Curry – DSC formula”. But as a listener, and sometimes caller myself, I identify with the “savants”, and so the abuse of CSB, felt like abuse of me! Ouch!
Mark should feel free to continue his style on his PCH podcast, I am sure many people enjoy his talents. Adam is usually self-deprecating and so Mark’s in-your-face approach was jarring for my commute time listening.
I listened to DSC 385 and had to turn it off during the CSB interview. Mark’s fowl mouth and abusive nature towards CSB (even if it was an act) was over the top and not something I care to listen too. Mark seems to be a talented guy but you would never know it by the way he acts. I felt very uncomfortable hearing him talk to CSB and trying to do all he could to make him look bad. I have more respect for CSB because of it.
I’ve listened to the DSC for a number of years and I don’t always agree with the things I hear I respect Adam for how he embraces and treats others with respect. I’ll continue to listen to the DSC as long as Mark is not a part of it.
