Where’s the feed for PSTQ? I had it in itunes, now it say’s it’s no longer avaible on the server, and I can’t find the xml chicklet on her site. Is this another bug?
AC, since 24 or so after podshow launched, i’ve not been able to listen to ANY podcasts on media.podshow.com – I just get timeouts. I’m a geek, so i’ve tried all the obvious things my end, the only thing i can think off is that, i’m with NTL, since the Telewest merger, the biggest Cable ISP in the UK, and NTL use web proxys, so i would imagine you saw a *whole* lot of requests from ntl’s proxies, which could of looked like some kind of DOS attack if you’ve got network protection for that kinda thing. Could you look into this? Or give me a contact email for someone who could? 62.255.32.15 is the proxy being used i’m using, (RDNS to: PTR.32.255.62.in-addr.arpa)
And that was why you shouldn’t write comments when you’ve just woken up – i hope that made sense. Basically, could you find out if 62.255.32.15 is being firewalled for some reason from m.podshow.com/media.podshow.com? Thanks.
Sorry for all the comments – I’m almost certain this is the case now, adam – because ive forced safari to use a different ntl cache (you can override the one ntl put you on, but can’t bypass them altogether, because they’re transparent) – I can connect and download. Which is handy cause i can still get my daily podshow goodness for now! – Although, all the other hundreds of people on my cache probably wont know how to manually choose a different cache…
Liam, sounds like NTL is doing something strange. I have passed your feedback on to the team and they will definitely look into this. I’m pretty sure we’re not firewalling anyone.
Just back from a trip away without broadband and none of the DSC feeds are downloading via the feed. I’m on NTL as well so maybe that’s why. All I get is the podshow screen and it timesout at http://m.podshow.com/media.podshow.com. I will download the old fashioned way for now (using curry.com) as that seems to work okay.
If they need any more information on how ntl’s proxy systems work, theres a whole bunch of stuff on google (google ‘ntl web proxy’) or they can get in touch with me at liam [a t} gladdy.co.uk
Yo Adam, nice work on the PDN, but where’s the Education section in the Program Guide? I know its not sexy and exciting, but tons of people flock to podcasts to learn! Plus I could use some more hype for my show Rookie Designer. Perhaps I’ll make it in the rotation if you add this category as I am cemented in the #3 spot at Podcast Alley each and every month. Just a thought. Thx!
It is a podcast about mobile phones with short podcasts where each episode is devoted just to one model of mobile phone (I can repeat mobile phone podcasts about old phones but always: one mobile phone per one podcast rule will be valid). If you have some wishes about which phones should I create episodes let me know!
Some remarks to Adam Curry and his Podshow Inc stuff:
— where the duck is RSS feed to my podcast http://mobile.podshow.com ? I can’t find it anywhere. It shouild be visible with big RSS icon but is not.
— I can’t edit episode name after uploading episode.
— I can’t put my own banner into description of the podcast. Podshow Inc gets advertisements revenues from their own banners and from audio adverstisemtns at the end but I would like to put LINKS and BANNERS of my own too.
— ability to put link to my website/blog on each page where my podcasts are should be added. Now I see that all HTML tags are being cleared from descriptions etc.
…. so I am contributing a little bit to Podshow – just to help Adam Curry. My above feedback is not critical and things seem to work fine in Podshow+ but of course you should keep improving stuff also for podcasters and not just for listeners
aha, editing of shows notes and of summary is fucked up: http://www.podshow.com is added to URLs and strange characters are added, etc – totally fucked up. Editing of shownotes etc should be 100% reliable – but it is not.
so you have some room for improvement yet., no problem.
Scott, glad you can confirm – its definately not just me then. I had some problems with DoS hardware at my old server ISP over in america, so i’m used to diagnosing this problem. Obviously, changing webcaches is only a temp measure, as more people do it, more cache’s will be blocked If it helps Podshow allow us, all ntl’s cache servers are *.server.ntli.net.
Trucker Tom : I am confused too!!! I wanted to create show at mobiles.podshow.com but when I tried to create podcast then podshow said that “mobiles” is taken!!! So it is podshow that is confusing stuff!! sorry Tom for that but I just try to do the best out of it.
Adam Curry and others: here is comic strip drawing that commemorates launch of Podshow+: http://comicstripblog.com/?p=228
(AdamC: sorry for slight critiicism of social networking part, there – I am just realistic; also feel free to put it on main page of curry.com if you wish or whatever; anyway: good luck with podshow+ – I like it although it has some problems yet).
A list of all the possible caches is at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/cmtips/trancache.html#ntl (Podshow: Don’t rely on that list to be fully accurate, ntl change this all the time, so ideally add the wildcard *.server.ntli.net) – If you go into internet options > connections > Lan Settings > Tick use a proxy server, and go for advance, in http, add one of the cache’s listed on that page, and use the port 8080, add any ip’s you’re using in your local network (only if you’re using a router, most likely 192.168.0.*, or 192.168.1.* – But you should be able to find that out, lemme know if you need anymore help =) Some of those cache’s could be down, if after you apply, no sites work, change to a different cache. You may need to reopen iTunes (or eqiv)! Good lucking finding one.. one tip would be to choose a number fairly high up, ntl seem to like putting us on the lower numbers – and try choosing a cache with a place which isn’t so popular!
If I put any proxy server in, I don’t get a connection at all. Not iTunes – Juice.
The proxy settings includes a space for accounrt details. I have tried leaving it blank, putting in my account name and my account @ntlworld.com. Also tried webcache.bt.net but couldn’t put any account details. Every time, no success.
Will now download the latest DSC manually as I am getting withdrawal symptoms!
There seem to be other Scotts here so I will change to my SL name from now on – Holdfast. It was my radio call sign when I was in the OTC at college (long ago…)
Okay, i got it working with cosh-cache-8 (thought hopefully not enough people here will use it, so ill be okay until it gets fixed). Just make sure you’re using port 8080 – it doesn’t use a password or anything. Make sure you’ve got ‘bypass proxy server for local addresses’ ticked, and you’re using that proxy in just http and secure, nothing else. You should be able to get it done, lemme screenshot my setup for you: http://www.gladdy.co.uk/stuff/ntl-podshow.jpg – I’m using mac primarily for podcasts, but this setup works on windows too
That is working. Excellent! Thanks hugely.
Now to let a few casts download and I have stuff to listen tomorrow.
Now to try and figure out the new PS+ – this may take a bit longer to get it exactly as I want. This is assuming that there ar no more bugs in a brand new product…
Good good. =) Enjoy. I’m almost certain (especially as some ntl cache’s work, and others don’t) the problem, for once, isn’t at ntl’s end (though, running so few caches for so many users is just asking for trouble.. but, alas.) Hopefully things can be sorted, theres a chance of course its limelight’s network which has the DoS kit. I’m sure it wont take long before its fixed. Luckily i can still relay through my server if i really need too, so i dont have to worry about missing episodes of the chaz.
Gecondoleerd Patricia, Christina en Adam met dit verlies.
For your mom this is a very big loss, my mom pased away a year ago and I can asure you that’s heavy.
Denk daar niet te makkelijk over, Christina.
Hey, i have an update for you guys: the issue does indeed lay with limelight, because llnwd.net which is used by limelight networks to hosts a bunch of thing, cause i can’t get to anything on there too.. (Doesn’t WoW use llwdn.net servers too?) Finally: The only thing which doesnt make sense is the fact we can still get to podshow.com, and just not the downloads. Are all the web servers hosted out of their network? (If you’re allowed to discuss that!)
Because this problem is out of podshow, ill email limelight directly to make sure they’re aware of the problem, and why its happening. American companys tend to be totally confused by UK ISP’s, based on experience!
So is there a known issue with Podshow at this time?
I haven’t tried between Friday and Monday night, but as of last night (Monday) None of my feeds to podshow are working. I can view podshow just fine, but I can not download anything. Aggregator’s say the link is broken. If I try a link directly to an mp3 file, Firefox just says it downloaded the file though there is nothing there.
Last night I was on Armstrong internet, now I’m on Verizon, both here in upstate, NY…
Thanks!
Levi (:

Since the PodShow+ launch, it’s here now:
http://www.podshow.com/feeds/podsavethequeencom.xml
The old feed re-directs to the new feed. iTunes probably needs to sort things out. But indeed Joost points to the new, correct feed.

To help my pal Adam Curry, I have launched my own podcast on Podshow+ :
http://mobile.podshow.com
It is a podcast about mobile phones with short podcasts where each episode is devoted just to one model of mobile phone (I can repeat mobile phone podcasts about old phones but always: one mobile phone per one podcast rule will be valid). If you have some wishes about which phones should I create episodes let me know!

… and for god’s sake remove dead links, like when I click “archives” on http://mobile.podshow.com i.e.:
http://mobile.podshow.com/shows/?show_id=601&mode=current
I am getting “page not found” – it doesn’t look very professional.
shortly speaking: you should get rid off of all dead links.
damn it, everything is there, also RSS feed:
http://www.podshow.com/feeds/mobile.xml
sorry, I overlooked it. Podshow+ rocks!
aha, editing of shows notes and of summary is fucked up: http://www.podshow.com is added to URLs and strange characters are added, etc – totally fucked up. Editing of shownotes etc should be 100% reliable – but it is not.
so you have some room for improvement yet., no problem.
Like Liam, I use NTL and I am getting all feeds from Podshow timing out, including my own feed.
Something is being blocked all right.
Scott, glad you can confirm – its definately not just me then. I had some problems with DoS hardware at my old server ISP over in america, so i’m used to diagnosing this problem. Obviously, changing webcaches is only a temp measure, as more people do it, more cache’s will be blocked

CSB — I’m sort of confused — I subscribed to your http://mobile.podshow.com podcast but your identity seems to be located at http://mobiles.podshow.com. I guess you must have created two identiies.
Trucker Tom : I am confused too!!! I wanted to create show at mobiles.podshow.com but when I tried to create podcast then podshow said that “mobiles” is taken!!! So it is podshow that is confusing stuff!! sorry Tom for that but I just try to do the best out of it.

Aargh! I can’t even download the stupid thing. I can’t get them through google reader either.
AC – can you make friends with NTL please? They seem to think that anything from Podsho is bad and are blocking it…
We’re on it. Imagine that, net neutrality breaks in the UK first LOL.
There seem to be other Scotts here so I will change to my SL name from now on – Holdfast. It was my radio call sign when I was in the OTC at college (long ago…)

Congrats on the Unleash! I am still finding my way around!
I am confused about how to vacuum my feed, not so tech-savy!! Can anyone help!
