Anyway: this podshow hijacking feeds is just opportunity for some bloggers to attract traffic and is not serious. Please note: the issue of lack of direct link (without intermediary page) from the podshow podcast page of each podcast – is still on. There should be link to website of podcaster directly from the podcast page at podshow – without intermediary page. After fixing this podhow will be in the clear.
While it’s true that all software has bugs, and much includes bad design decisions, with the number of people working on PodShow Plus and the time it’s been in the works, this seems to be a pretty significant faux pas. Honestly, it and the two-day delay in even getting it live once the “it’s going live” switch should have been flipped don’t give me the greatest long-term confidence in this project.
Plus I don’t yet see what the big deal is. The stuff going on at Blubrry and some of the other communities is equally interesting, and seems to have been put together with a much smaller team in less time and with less money.
I should note that I hope PodShow does really well with all this stuff, and would like all of these initiatives to succeed. I simply recall that we’ve been hearing about an imminent launch of some of the new stuff since at least April, and what I’m seeing right now doesn’t overwhelm me.
Maybe that kind of tepid response from people like me is why Steve Jobs keeps everything secret until the big moment. Some openness has its price.
Podshow, a small company with an enormous project and unsympathetic customers (some of them), that’s reality.
I’m still a little confused. If I vacuum my feed into podshow+, can I still have my podcast weblog the way it is today? Will it automatically read the feed updates and create new shows? Or am I completely switching to Podshow_ for my show website/shownotes, ect?

Ah, if we’re going by that theology, isn’t it safe to say that you copied every comic strip that came before you? Just because somebody made a social commentary in the form of a comic hardly means they stole your idea and should give you credit. At least their comics are funnier than most of yours, CSB.
I like what the site looks like and would move my podcast. I was excited. Main reason is I heard how great it was from Trucker Tom and AC himself. I religiously listen to the DSC every day it’s out. I was excited. However once it was decided to throw the switch, things went loopy. I preregistered to reserve my name and other then a few blog posts I have not seen anything regarding the looping verify. I hope once it gets stable, it’s very stable. But right now my excitement is staarting to wane….and I don’t even give shit about the problem with the feeds. I was hoping Podshow would be more stable then Libsyn (and they are pretty good but not without fault).

The Podsafe-Network Adam built is huge and has some real value but Podshow does not know how to make any money from this.

For the sake of going back to AC’s words, he has repeatedly said that it wasn’t about Podshow making lots of money. Stop laughing…I can hear you, ya know! Hey, it’s what he said! PDN…no split. The services are free to use. The only income I see so far is advertisement generated.
@ toutrams I agree that there are plenty of possibilities, but it has sounded like AC didn’t plan to implement them. I’m not really advocating one of the other, my point is just that if he did say he wasn’t trying to make money on it, then I wouldn’t fault him for not exploiting the possibilities. Personally, I’m into making money but that’s just me.

AdamC and others: I logged in, I looked around and all I see is another thick and user-unfriendly layer of software that looks like “my space -lookalike but for podcasting”…. but where the F is possiblity to UPLOAD MY PODCASTS????? I signed up to be able to upload my podcasts and not to have another thick useless layer between myself and the MP3 files of podcasts. Can’t I upload mp3 files / podcasts yet??? WTF ?????
I just posted this over at Jersey Todd’s site and then realized I should post it here as well. This is in respect to JT’s post concerning giving Podshow a break at this address.
Great read Todd. I have been in the Podshow+ beta for months now, and have seen it grow. There have been bugs, there will be bugs. Most people do not realize how “balls to the walls” the guys in the office were going to get this released. Then again, to some people, it does not matter. Everything is intentional, it is all Adam’s fault, and he is an evil bastard. It is all the same template.
I just hope that people calm down and really check out what is in the site. The new internal email system is terrific. As you build your entourage, they are automatically added to your contacts, and you can either bulk mail or mail on an individual basis from a very friendly interface.
That runs circles around the myspace communications, where you can send messages individually, but not from a solid interface, or you can post bulletins, which people miss.
Another great thing about the site is the combo of the program guide and the ability to make your own channel playlists, which launch from any player. It is like combining TIVO and community sharing. It is a powerful way to find new shows and to interact and get to know people better. It is like taking the teenager’s “mix-tape” idea,and giving it a whole new spin.
There is a lot of good stuff to check out, but people will always focus on the tiny negatives instead of the great whole.
BTW, glad to see that you are now in! I just added you to my entourage!
