There was a film out last month called Once in a Lifetime about the rise and fall of the New York Cosmos and how the soccer was sold to america. It pretty much said that americans want to see a circus show, not a free flowing sport. I heard a review on Mark Kermode’s podcast but it’s been taken off the BBC site.

Just wanted to say I’m really sorry to hear about your Mum Adam. Cancer is one of the worst things to have because your friends and family can’t do anything but watch it take it’s toll, but you aren’t alone as you said on the show today, plenty of other people are going through the same thing right now too.
On a more positive note, I’m very excited about the unleash of Podshow+, got my reservation in early! Anyway, keep up the good work on The Show Adam.

regarding your mum, AdamC: dude, stop encouraging people to smoking by lightning the cigarettes at the end of DSC (and during DSC)! For many people it is nicotine smoking encouragement and your explanations that it is “just” joint smoking are reaching only few people. Think about it: thanks to you encouraging people to smoke several people were already infested by cancer. You fucking idiot, Adam Curry: your mum is dying out of cancer and you spread cancer at the same time – the very same kind also (lung cancer)! It’s really bad. And smokers also infest non-smokers with cancer due to passive smokers (I am not smoker but in fucking Germany smoking is allowed everywhere and there is no clear division). You spread cancer, dude. Stop it.

AFRIKAANS is one of the 11 (yes eleven!!!) official languages of South Africa. I can’t even name all the other ten. English is mostly spoken to bridge the language gaps, that’s why we all speak english relatively well.
Its good to have Patricia back on the show.

Like others, I find baseball a poor spectator sporrt but, when I was a teenager, my parents worked in the middle east and there were lots of US & Canadians. I enjoyed playing softball with them. I think the only sport we had in common with them was golf and they took that WAY too seriously!
