Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft: “Will anybody be selling newspaper ads in ten years? Or will they all get sold out of these online marketplaces? Even TV advertising. Who is better to deliver an ad, a computer that knows about you and can target you, or an ad sales guy who’s walking around?”
PBS: “So the conversation goes from advertiser to podcaster to audience and back again — a true feedback loop that takes away the traditional top-down control from advertisers. And everyone wins? Imagine that.”
As discussed in today’s Daily Source Code, a new company called pod2mob is inserting advertising in their mobile streams of podcasts, all podcasts, without the owner’s consent. I’m hoping lawyers won’t have to be called in, but all podcast producers should be defending their copyrights against this commercial usage of their property.
