Yes this is common knowledge within the US nowadays. The bad part is that most people are turning to the internet to get their news, which is so dangerous because it could be fact or fiction, they wont know for sure.

This is from someone who knows the ins and outs of T.V. and believes the aliens are going to come save us and thinks tv can hypnotize you. Among a number of other wacked out theories. Adam is just as hyper - reactive as CNN or Fox.

You have made big cash and fame of of t.v. You are still in the entertainment industry and support allot of nonsense in the podcast world, including people who promote drugs, promote T.V. Want to be on T.V. and for the most part are less entertaining than the worst shows on T.V.
Not to mention the lame advertising on podshow. Embrace your past Adam. The awakening has made you into a timid scared - believe in anything - paranoid looser.
Like a fat lady who became thin and now is on a mission to tell the world that McDonalds is bad! Or a guy who used to play World of Warcraft 10 hours a day and now thinks that WOW is the root of all evil.

Anyways, i agree. This is not news. Not that i come to Adam for news. I just keep listening for the same reason i tune in to Rush Limbaugh now and then. Crack pot. Pot head, cabbage eating people who are on the fringe are entertaining.

I turned off the "news" channels about a year ago. 'News" channels do nothing but piss you off with pointless debates that always get stopped in the middle so they can, guess what... play commercials! "Well, we're going to have to leave it there, but we'll have you both back on soon..."

Yeah right.

The OP is right - there is little information, and what information there is serves the agenda of whoever's running the channel you're watching. Although I can't get behind the idea of turning the TV off altogether since I still need my Family Guy and House, I guarantee you that turning off the "news" channels is the best move you can make when it comes to the preservation of your own mental health.

I have not owned or watched a TV in over 14 years. The funny thing is that every one else in the world does so I still know what's going on on TV just from hearing people talk about it.

I agree with "Pete". Watch a variety of news programs, read a wide range of papers from various countries and distill whatever you can from that. I've learned this from living in Holland for 9 years and Istanbul for 2 and traveling constantly, reading newspapers from Kuwait to Bishkek. Just this fall I was watching news about the impending financial crisis which was broadcast worldwide, and when the speaker began to imply America was was instrumental in the failure of the first banks, CNN immediately cut to another news story, while I switched to BBC and they were running the full speech. It just helps to not have to rely on limited sources.

Thanks, but I think we Americans have known that for at least 40 years. It CAN be jarring when you believe otherwise, then for the first time you get involved in something being reported on.

I don't think turning off all media is the answer though -- then you have NO information. It's one's responsibility to include more viewpoints, even ones you think you disagree with, and calmly consider them. From five different viewpoints on the same event, a clear picture often emerges. Don't rely on CNN, Fox, or any single source; rely on, for example, CNN+Al Jazeera+BBC+CSM, etc.
